DEVONPORT.
A Devonport darling (we know she is a darling by the pretty way she writes) says we have quite forgotten that charming suburb, and sends us a bit of news'. But we want to see a name at the bottom of such intimations, and would like the news ready dressed in our pretty correspondent's (we swear she's pretty) own taking way. The pith of the news is, according to our correspondent, that old Mi* G-., after trying in vain to entice one young lady to share his ancient joys, chopped around and squared it with Miss O- N.j and they are now engaged in 'cheapening secondhand furniture. Our correspondent also informs us of what we knew before, namely, that Mr Sam Jackson, junior, is engaged to Miss Eastham. We are glad of that, because if the Misses Eastham are only half as nice and good as they look, they must be a happy catch for any man, let alone the fat and fair Sam. While on the lady's part we are also glad, as Sam has and easy temper and a fulji purse.
