The Ball in connection with the Butchers' Picnic took place in the Lome-street Hall last evening. There were about 70 couples jpreent, and a programme of 24 dances gone through, the music being supplied by Mr Hunter's String Band. The caterer, Mr Dallen, with a staff of assistants, deserves credit for the sumptuous repast provided by him, the table being loaded with all the deli•cacies of the season. The artistic decoration of the hall with evergreens and choice pot plants, which was executed under the of Mr Mead, reflects great credit on that gentleman, who also undertook the onerous duties of M.C. to the satisfaction of rail. Mr Foss also deserves a word of praise for his exertions on behalf of the novices for securing them partners during the ■evening. Messrs Pollard, Shove, and Barrington also assisted to a great extent to make the ball a success. During the .evening Miss Bella Wilson sang two songs, which were heartily encored.
