FOOTLIGHT FLASHES.

"Woodward's Japanese Troupe lias appeared for the List time in "Wellington on the •ith. Miss Genevieve Ward and Mr W r . 11. Yernon opened their season at Wellington on the <3th inst. We hear that there is every probability of the Lewis Company "being disbanded at* the. end of their season in Auckland. Miss Genevieve Ward, Mr W. IT. Yernon, and their specially-selected Company, who have been playing with such pronounced success in the Mouth, will open their season at Abbott's Opera House on the. 2nd Feb. with " [Forget Me Xot." A new lecturing light has arisen in the •firmament. Mr .11. Tichbornc intends to delight an audience. 1 at the Xorth Shore on this (Friday) night week with a lecture which certainly has strong claims to originality. It is on the " Cannibal Islands." Mr Tichborne lias travelled through all the South Sea Islands, and will, no doubt, as he says, be able to d.:piet some strange scenes and characters. The lecture will be illustrated with limelight views. We regret to learn that Miss Flora Anstead, who made herself so highly popular as Mrs Walsingham in " Youth.'" and Mrs Jarvis in the " Lights o' London," has severed her connection with Miss Genevieve Ward. It seems not only a detriment to the company, but a disappointment to the; public of Auckland. And why Miss "Ward should not have endeavoured to keep her company is a, mystery, unless she thinks that the people of Auckland are too easily pleased, and require less for their money than our l friends in the South.
