Miss Braddon's new novel, " Ishmael," contains vivid descriptions of Paris during the coup d" etat, but the reviewers arc greatly divided about its merits. We do not think so favourably' of it as of some other recent novels. Black's " Judith Shakspeare;" Ohncb's "Master of the Forges" and " Countess Sarah ;" " Doris," by Tho Duechess ; " Tho House on tho Marsh " and " The Iron Hand," by Wardell ; Buchanan's " Foxgrove Manor ;" and Conway's " Dark Day's " are tho newest candidates for public favour. NicholPs "King Country," and Saley's "Expansion of England " are both advertised in new editions. Most of these are available by tho subscribers to the Exchange Library at the chambers next Morrin and Co.'s. Some exquisite photographs of Mary Anderson, Miss Fortescue, Mrs Lmgtry, and other celebrities have been added to the other attractions of this already popular rosort.
