" Let thy fleet greyhound urge bis flying foe."

We shall gladly welcome contributions and information ''a Conivtwj matters, dulij attested by the signatures and addresses of the senders.

A i ; km: ual meeting of the above Club was held at the Albert Hotel on Saturday evening last. The attendance was not large. A. E. Isaae.s, Esq., President of the Club, was in the chair. The business was to consider a letter from the Plumpton Park Coursing Club, Christeburch, re the establishing of a greyhound stud book, open to all the owners and breeders in the Colony, and they submitted a series of proposals for the management of the same. The clauses which met with disfavour were: — "That, after the opening of the stud book, no dog be allowed to run at any club's public meeting unless it is registered ;" and " That every club in the colony be asked to prohibit any greyhound competing at its meeting unless registered in the stud book." After some desultory discussion, it was resolved to reply as follows: — "While admitting the value of a central registration, such as mentioned in your letter, our Club consider that rules 2 and 7 as proposed too harsh , and at present unworkable, especially as our Club here is young, and just now only moving into position, and that there is a stud book already in existence for the province of Auckland." Notice of motion, ■was given to change the annual general meeting i'roju the last Friday in. November to the last Friday in February. A very handsome silver cup, presented by Mr W. F. Buckland, M.H.11., to bo coursed, for at the next meeting of the Club, was exhibited, and it was also intimated that Mr A. E. Isaacs would give a gold cup for competition. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chair.
