WANT OF A FAMILY HOTEL.

To the Editor of the Observer : Sir, — I do not wish to intrude on your valuable space, but I really should like to speak a few words on behalf of the travelling public, of whom I have the honor to be a member. On my arrival here, after having spent eight months in America on my way from England, I endeavored to find a quiet faniily hotel to which I could take my wife and children, and was very much astonished indeed when I found that (instead of being greeted by numerous touts all anxious to persuade me that their hotel was the best) in reply to my enquiry, "Can you show me a quiet family liotel ?" the answer was, "Well, sir, you see children are such a trouble '. "' evidently not wishing me to come to the hotel they represented at any rate. After considerable trouble I at length succeeded in finding a place myself in Hobsonstreet, and in justice to my host I must say that I found both himself and his employees obliging-, courteous, and always ready to please. I do not travel with my eyes shut, Mr Editor, and I think that if 'my worthy host were to still further enlarge his space, he would find plenty of visitors only too glad to take advantage of the opportunity afforded them of getting a comfortable home while remaining- in Auckland for their families and themselves.
