Labob Report. — R. M. Heighton and Co., Labor Exchange and Registry Office, 177 Queen-street, Auckland, N.Z., report as follows : There is a slight improvement in the labour market. The Christinas holidays being now over, the supply of men servants increases, being anxious to procure suitable employment. There is a slight demand among the employers for married couples, waiters, cooks, farm laborers, &c. At the close of the present week, we look forward to a greater demand forf our supply. The demand and supply for women servants as usual. Smokists in the region of "Upper Symondsstreet can now indulge in those requisites necessary for " blowing a cloud," without tramping into town to make their purchases — Mr Fred W. Marter having opened a tobacconist emporium, fitted up with every known line, as regards tobaccoo, cigars, pipes, &c. Mr Marter has also started a circulating librp.ry, where love-sick maidens can weep over the sorrows of " Unhappy Mariar, who with kerosene lit the lire," or any other interesting work of fiction, for the small charge of 3s per quarter. The latest novels will be supplied, it boing the proprietors desire to make the library a complete b access, and pleas© his patrons.
