RAMSGATE. RAMSGATE is situated at the south-eastern extremity of tlie Isle of Thanet. It is a place of considerable trade of a coasting nature ; and ship-building and rope-making are here carried on to a great extent. It is also a place much frequented for sea-bathing, and purposes of health and recreation. It has two piers ; the eastern one is 2,000 feet in length, being considered one of the finest works of the kind in the kingdom ; the western one, with the lighthouse at its extremity, extends about 1,500 feet, forming an extensive harbour. Delightful drives may be enjoyed in the vicinity of Ramsgate.
