It possesses two excellent piers, which are constantly crowded with passengers for the steamers to and from the metropolis. The Terrace Gardens which flank the entrance of the Terrace Pier, are most , tastefully laid out. Gravesend abounds with tea-gardens, taverns, and sources of amusement. One of the principal objects of attraction is Windmill Hill, from the summit of which an exten« sive view of the surrounding scenery may be obtained.
