OBSERVER ART UNION.
The success attending' the previous prize-draw-ing in connection with the Obseevee has induced the proprietor to arrange an Art Union consisting of twenty-four choice /. .^Pipjbur^ handsomely framed, to> be disposed pf. ; in . strict agcfrjdance with the Act, and by permission of the Q-bvern-ment. ....... - Each copy of the Oi SEtiiß, commencing October 6th, will contain a coupon, ten of which (cut f rbm : one ; issue 1 or consecutive issues) will form a set entitling the holder to ten chances in the drawing, ' each coupon ! being numbered in rotation on receipt at the office. One coupon will be of no use without' the other nine, and each coupon must be carefully cut out, filled up j in accordance with' instructio.nl, and forwarded as directed herewith, on or before Monday, December 24th, 1883. the drawing taking place at 8 o'clock on the evening of "that day, at the Obsebver office, in presence of an influential committee., ' • i v Tn addition to the Art Union, in accordance with our usual Christmas custom, there will be absolutely given away to the holders of certain numbers which will hereafter be announced, Gold and Silver Watches, Diamond Rings, Cabinetware, Fancy Goods, Jewellery, &c, of local manufactureUpwards of 150 sets of coupons in the last Art Union came to hand too late for the drawing, though a clear week was allowed between the completion of the requisite number of coupons and the time of drawing. Some of the coupons have been sent from distant Southern districts — as far as Invercargill — and remote districts in the North ; and as it is possible that there has not been sufficient time for these late letters to reach the office before the drawing, they will be allowed to count for the next Art Union.
