In his recent speech in the' Theatre Royal on Annexation and 'Federation, Sir 'George " Grey ■ stated that the original' Constitution of New-' Zealand empowered the : Colonial Parliament t» } make laws on all internal questions -without^reserving any Bill for Her Majesty's- assent'- or' disallowance, and he went on. to say that the people of New Zealand 1 , should' never rest^unjjil they had recovered that Tb,^ sentiment, was, of courseshighly popular, with a sectipn. of . the audience, and evoked that fervid enthusiasm, j, which any sentiment of the kind ' always elicits. c But if there ever ' was .any/ such ; constitution, actually brought into operation, we should "be'; everlastingly grateful if some kind reader wotald. supply us with a copy.
