ATHLETIC GOSSIP.
— Walsh thinks that sport makas a great mistake when he Bays ho only wants 300 yards. — Piekering started on Monday to do hie first spin ; he should have a good show this time. — Ted Sandall, better known as The Agent, says he will enter this time for the walking on the 9th. — A. Hendry says that h« will start this time for the two-mile walking, and try what Huston is made of. — Huston says he will not be able to do his beat performance this time, as he is not going into strict training to do his two miles in 14£. Do you think he could ever do it ? I don't. — I hear that a match is on the board between a local ped. and Jt. Ellis ; distances, 100, 120. and 200 yards. Two to on« on Bob. — I pity poor Bob this time, as every man expects a show. I think ke is the fairest handieapper in New Zealand, and I have been handicapped under them all. — "Our Bob," as some call him, ought to have a big say in the handicap this time. If he gets the same show as he had at Avondale in a quarter of a mile, I do not think there is anything in Auckland to beat him.
