TANTAENE ANIMIS COELESTIBUS IRCE.
There is still discord about the music .at St.,'. Matthew's. Recently a meeting was held of the; parson and the choristers. There we're tea/muffins, and such, like small cheer, but* the^ organist, (Mr Poqjey) was not allowed to have ' any. He waa left at home to parfcaie of th&, ordinary provision made for him at eventide by > Madame Pooley. In his absence, the Rev. Tebbs, . Messrs Mumford and Wood, and a certairT gar-, rulous disciple of executed all sorts of running fantasias, descriptive of their abhorrence , of their organist, till the church-tea and muffin* turned in the stomachs of their auditors, and. drove them out to seek a healthier moral atmosphere. At about- 11 p.m. a 'passing constable,, hearing a noise akin to that, heard by Tarn, o* Shanter in Alloway Kirk, looked tremblingly' within, and saw the aboye.-named gentlemen 'still inveighing against Mr Pooley in blood-curdling strains. He fled. The me«ting subsequently broke itself to pieces, vowing vengeance against the pontumacious and absent Pooley. '
