Rangiora, July 7, 1881. Sir, Having carefully examined Herbal Extract, I find it to be a akilf ully^^^^d vegetable preparation, possessing the properties of the plants from which it is derived in a highly/ concentrated state, a fact which I have verified by evaporating a fluid drachm placed in a watch glass over a spirit lamp. On weighing the result, a dark green extract, I found thfr weight to be 14| grains. On further submitting the extract to analysis I found it to be rich in tannin. In a large number of cases of ordinary diarihcea, as well as in manj chronic cases and in dysentery, I have proved it to possess great specific control, added to the unusual feature in a majority of diarrhoea medicines, that it does not subsequently constipate the bowels. I feel satisfied that, from the number of trials I have been eaabled to nsake of it in a somewhat extensive practice, it is a most valuable addition to modern therapuetics. The following cases are taken at random from my note book : — Case No. 1. — Mrs M , West Eyertotij, suffering for two years from Chronic Dysentei-y which had reduced her almost to a akeletou, After a fortnight's trial not only had tho Diavrhcea stopped, but she commenced eating meat without paiu and the usual concomitant vomiting-* In two months she had gained 181bs weight. Case No. 2. — A. Gk, child, aged 5 year 5, Fortnight Diarrhoea. Was effectually cured on third day Cask No 3. — A soldier who had contracted Dysentery in India got a small two-ounce phial, and was well before he had finished half of it. Chaeles DeLacy MaoCaethy, M.A., M.8., &c, Trinity College, DublinSurgery, Rangiora, July, 1881. A Ceetain cure G-tjabakteed in every case,, no matter how severe or of how long a standing.. To Paeents. — Provide yourselves with^he- / above " Extract " and you need have no fear of the above diseases for your little ones. No familyshould be without it. MONK'S NEW ZEALAND HERBAL MIX. TURE FOR NEWRALGIA. Pbice, 3s 6i> Pee Bottle. The Mixture acts like a charm in the .abovfr painful disease, and gives almost instantaneousrelief. From Capt. Kennedy, U.S.S. Hauroto. Port Chalmers, Feb. 7th, 1883. Dear Sir, — Thanks for the medicine you werekind enough to send me. I have only to say that in my case — a severe attack of neuralgia in thehead — it afforded me considerable relief. '^It has. also the advantage of not being in the leastnauseous, like most remedies. — I remain, dearsir, yours faithfully, ■'-,■' Mr H. D. Moni.
