LVh iznvf a valedictory cliip in. Our New I'lynur.th coxrespondent, whose veracity is as uniinpc;.:h!ibji.as a policeman's oath, has been interviewing the illustrious Prophet of Purihaka. Te Whiti " ex* pressed his unqualified approval of all that has appeared in the Observer in regard to native questions," and remarked that " if the Observer correspondent had taken up his cause years ago, and faithfully reported his speeches, there would never have been any trouble at Parihaka, and history would not have had to record the exploits of Bryce on the famous white horse." Te Whiti went on to say that statements were attributed to him in the other papers that he never used, and that those misrepresentations caused all the mischief. We hope yet to number Te Whiti among our most esteemed contributors, and a few of his prophecies would lend a zest and freshness to these columns which could not fail to interest our readers. P.S. — We stop the press to add that Te Whiti has forwarded us a subscription for twelve mouths, but as it consists of policemen's potted brains we have been rather puzzled what to do with it, and on mature consideration have handed it over to the museum as a curiosity. Its scientific value to anatomists and physiologists consists in the fact that it finally settles the vexed question whether constabulary men possess any brains at all.
