A FEATHER IN OUR CAP.
Sometime ago it became our duty to animadvert rather severely on the transactions of a local importer. In the Waikato the other day a settler -was complaining to one of his friends that eighteen months ago he had paid to the same importer £25 on account of a shipment of barbed wire which had never been delivered, nor had the deposit been returned. " I'll tell you what you had better do," advised the friend, " write and tell him (the importer) that if he does not send the wire, or a draft or cheque for the £25, you will send particulars of the affair to the Observed,." The settler acted upon this advice, and received by return mail a marked cheque with profuse apologies for the "oversight." However we may come short of perfection, it cannot be denied that the Observer accomplishes a great deal of good, and is " a terror to evil doers.
