WAIKOMITI

I see that Mr Oantwell challengss my information about the apple-stealing, no doubt with some idea of extracting from you by a side-wind the name of your correspondent. I may say that? my information was obtained from Mr Cochrane, from whom the apples were stolenj that Mr Buckley, on the next farm, saw the two boys, in the garden and the two boss mean men outside, while Mrs Cochrane afterwards saw the four together. Mr Cochrane accused one of the parties, who put the blame on the boys, but confessed to having received some of the apples and eaten them. (The father of one of the boys corroborates this statement.) I sent you this information, because orchard robbing is becoming too prevalent here.
