A USTRALIAN DRA MA TIC NO TES.

— I — * V Melbourne. — Teddy Haygarth is /playing -with Marion "Willis at the Temperance Hall, in " The Bofctlo." — Bland Holt produces the latest Drury Lane success, " Pluck," at tho Royal, Melbourne, at Easter j also, " Mankind " and " Taken Prom Life." — Mv G-ovdon Groocli has established himself as a great favourite already, and will no doubt have many tempting offers to stay in Melbourne, so look out Auckland, or you will lose your great singer. — " Manola," at the Opera House, is the most gorgeous production ever seen in Melbourne. The ballet of all nations, with characteristic dances, is enough to draw good biz. for many weeks to come, apart from Miss Ivanova's charming singing and Appelbyand Wallaces's truly awful " gags." — Maggie Moore'a reception as La Mas-cosse (the luck- winner), at the Princess, in the comic opera of that name, was something to be remembered — the ladywas deluged with bouquets, and enormous baskets of flowers, most tastefully arranged, were handed to her from the orchestra. Messrs Harwood, Kelly, and Woodfield are also big favourites. — Miss.Pomcroy and company have arrived safe and well at Calcutta. JEu route, they played four nights at Colombo, opening in "As You Like It." Cast as follows:— Rosalind, MissPomeroy ; Jacques, Dewhurst ; Orlando, Arthur Elliot ; Adam, Forbes ; Touchessone, Carey. Crowded houses every night resulted. — The greatest number of persons ever assembled within tho walls of any theatre in the Southern Hemisphere assembled on Boxing Night in the Theatre ; Royal to witness " Jack and the Beanstalk." Maggie ; Oliver (Jack) and two Misses Derwyn, amoncr the ladies, are the best ; while Bland Holt, Greville, and C. Brown vied with one another in the comedy parts. Being the only Pantomime in Melbourne, it is sure of a long run, and it deserves it. ' HOBART. — Wybert Reeve, Q-eorge Darrell, and Gf-rattan Riggs come as " stars " during the season, which will ; last for ten weeks. *i — Miss Watt-Tanner — a great Auckland favourite — bids f air to become as preat here. Her Florence Bristowe, in the " Crushed Tragedian," is a performance " too sweet for any sort of use." — Frank G-crald made his first appearance here as Geoive T>e Losparre, in "Led Astray." Noxt week he plays Basil Giorgione, in the "Colonel" — the part played in Auckland with so much success by GeralSL Dillon. — Nat. Douglas and Oharloy Holloway are old favourites here, while Messrs Kennedy and Coleman* (who made a very good impression as Matthew Thornton'in. "Queen's Evidence") are likely to become so soon. — Mr Dodge's dramatic season started on Box- ; ing Night. The company is spoken of by the Mercury as being the strongest that has visited the city for years. It includes the following ladies and gentleman :— Miss Flora Austead (Mra Dodge,), Miss Jenny "Watt-Tanner, Mis 3 Cora Gwynue (of Fred Marshall's company), Miss Docy Main waring (Mrs Douglass).
