PRIZE FOR WATER-COLOUR SKETCH.

We offer to give a prize of ten shillings to the boy or girl who supplies the best water-colour sketch — any subject — on or before January Ist, 1883. The sketch must be accompanied by six coupons as below.

WATER-COLOUR PRIZE,

COMPETITION FOR SCHOOLS

The Logomachic competition having attracted a very large number of competitors, and proved on the whole very successful, we offer .this week another prize of £1 under the following conditions : — 1. The word selected is " Rostocostojambedanesse " (the author of " After Beef Mustard " — Pantagruel) . 2. Competitors are to construct from the letters in the above word as many words as possible that may be found in any standard English dictionary, but the letters must not be used more than once. For example, the word contains the letter " O " four times, so that it may be used that number of times only in constructing a word ; but the letter "J " occurs only once, and therefore must not be used oftener. 3. Christian and Geographical names must not be used. 4. The competition will be open to boys or girls attending any public school. 5. Each competitor must send in sis of the appended coupons with his list of words. 6. The competition will close on January 18th.
