THE CD. DOCTOR.

A NEW SONG TO AN OLD TUNE

Br the Kakanq-ahape Fiend

Air—" Oh, Wallis, Wallis, up yon bank." Oh waly, waly,* by Newton Kirk, Ye Valentinian ladies gay ; And waly, waly, o'er Auckland town — The CD. Doctor's lost the clay ! Aa M.H.E. his occupation Has vanished from his fond regard ; And, to fill up his Sorrow's cup, He's spurned in Karangahape Ward ! He leaned his back to the CD. Ac' — A frail support, but he was needy ; His prop is gone, he stands alone, And, faith, he's looking very seedy ! ("CD.— See, d'ye?)f First on the poll, by fast " express," Conies in the " Grarrett near the sky ;" And Stevenson so well has done, That groceries were ne'er so high ! A " Scot who has with Wallis bled " (And if you doubt it, where's your Burns ?) Who oft the " Caledonians " led,J A big Majority returns ! But woe is me, the " CD. Doc." Comes trotting in the hindmost place — The most successful of the lot, Had it but been a donkey race.§ Now all the breeched and bearded ladies, Who with their " front " the Doctor backed, No more will it ay (in), but frankly say — They've " run to seed " the CD. Act ! And now we know the old man's title, — 'Tis not M.B_, or Fiddle-dee-dea ; His new diploma, of sweet aroma, Has the magic letters — CD.D. ! *An exclamation of sorrow — vide old Scetch song. tOf course we see (not being Scotch), without any necessity for a surgical operation. The " goak," however, is rather " seedy." JEeport saith' that Major Burns is ex -landlord of the Caledonian Hotel. §In the etiquette of donkey-racing, the last horse to reach the winning-post is declared the winner. The Doctor's natural 'instincts led him astray in the late election, however.
