Yonge. i The ball was the most successful held in Auckland for years. The stewards, and the committee as a whole, deserve grent credit for their indefatigable exertions to perfect the arrangements, and to minister to the comfort and enjoyment of the guests. Our thanks are due to the secretary, 'Mr Ludlow, for his courtesy in furnishing our representative with information.
- Mrs Ganible wore a quaint and picturesque gown, of mauve and terra-cotta shot silk. Mrs Williamson : Ficelle-coloured silk, trimmed with white lace ; coiffure of small blue and white ilowers. Mrs J. Philson : Rich, white satin and lace. Mrs Barstow : Black satin ; white lace coiffure. Miss K. Isaacs : Cardinal satin. Mrs Laishley : Blue silk, with white lace. . Mrs A. Buckland : Black satin : pink flowers. ■ - Mrs A. Aitkin.: Black satin. Miss Hughes : Pink satin dress. Mrs Brigham : White satin. Miss Barstow : An elegant dress of lustrous blue satin and white laco. ' Miss A. Barstow : Creme satin, trimmed with "Spanish lace. Mrs Von der Heyde : Black velvet, draped with white lace. Mrs E. Mrs Ching : White satin, with sash and •chatelaine bag of pale blue. Mrs A. Nathan looked extremely well in white satin. Miss Mowbray : Amber silk, . with flower "trimming. Miss Fulloon : Pretty dres3 of pink cashmere, •trimmed with swansdown. Miss Gilfillan : Creme nun's veiling, with satin bodice. Mrs Haines : White satin, with panel of figured blue satin. Mrs B. Irolaud : Pale piuk surah silk ; coiffure •of white chrysanthemums. Mrs Masefield : Amber satin, trimmed with violet velvet. Miss Anderson wore a prettily made dress of white silk, trimmed with white satin. Madame Schmitt : White satin ; flower -coiffure. Mrs McAUum : White satin, trimmed with plush and shaded leaves. Miss Churton : White satin, with gold trimming. Mrs Owen wore an elegant robe of black velvet with plastron of white satin and crystal embroidery ; coiffure of lace and pearls. Mrs E. Lewis looked to advantage in maize■eoloured silk, trimmed with white lace and damask roses. Mrs D. Nathan : A very handsome dress of floral satin, with pale blue ground ; underskirt of blue, shoes and gloves en suite. Mrs Hughes : Violet silk. Mk G. Lewis : Black satiu ; crimson feather. Mrs Herborough : White satin ; dark crimson •chrysanthemums round neck. One lady looked very nice in black silk ; black lace. Mrs Ehrenfried : Creme silk, creme satin let in the front in puffs plentifully trimmed with beetle trimming; wreath of scarlet berries and white flowers ; same at neck. " A Lady of Taste" kindly sends the following :— Miss Croker Munro looked awfully pretty in light blue satin, without train. Miss Isaacs had a very handsome dress of white satin, with drajie of pink ombre satin on train. Miss Evans was -attired in blue satin, low neck, which suited her figure splendidly. Miss Clayton, as usual, looked awfully pretty, and wore a lovely shade of pink without train. Miss Keesing- looked perfectly charming in cr&me satin, with trail of water-lilies and grass. No train. Miss Hughes' dress of black satin, with just a pall of black lace on shoulder was very elegant and suited her admirably. Mrs Greenwood wore cardinal satin and white lace ; also, a very beautiful diamond cross ; hair worn high. Mrs Ralph Keesing looked very well in an •elegant dress of black satin, heavily trimmed with lac ; \ery handsome cap. Mrs Murray Moore, in peacock -blue satin and old gold, looked very stylish 3 also wore her hair high. I think I am not far out in saying that the belles of the Baohelors' Ball were — Miss Fairburn, Miss Croker, Miss Keesing and Miss Clayton.
