FLUFF AND FEATHERS.
A curious story is going the rounds concerning a member of the force, which is worth relating. He came across two geese in Queen-street, and " run 'em in " on two charges ; first, under the City by-laws, for obstructing the footpath when desired to " move on ;" second, under the Vagrant Act, with having no visible means of support other than their two " greenery -yallery " understandings. Tbe geese remained at the 6tation for two or three days, and as John Thackabury had received a call to " another place," the poor birds were neglected and almost starved. They were subsequently let out on their own recognizances. But the strangest part of the story is that the owner has never found his geese yet. They have evaporated, yet, as one wag remarked, " They may. be quacks, but in the pot there's no doubt they're the genuine article." The sacred geese once saved Home, but the confounded geese seized in Queenstreet, have nearly destroyed the peace of the force. The young man from the country who effected fche arrest pleaded, in defence of hia conduct, that he thought " what was sauce for the gander was sauce for the goose."
