THE SULPHUR TRADE.

Mr John Alexander Wilson is again petitioning Parliament for compensation for loss of a fat sinecure. How these native officials hunger after the fleshpots of Egypt, and what a howl there will be when Herctiles Bryce gets to work with his new broom ! One of Wilson's grievances is that he started a sulphur manufactory at Tauranga on the strength of the supposed permanency of his billet. When Bryce does away with the Native Office, we shall have all the discharged Commissioners, Judges, agents, interpreters, and carpet-baggers seeking a refuge for the distressed in the 3ulphur business, and the supply will be insufficient to do justice to their expressions of gratitude towards Bi'yce. All a man will have to do in future is to start in the sulphur line and Parliament is bound to keep him in employment. We would recommend the idea to Grarrard, only he has no need of any sulphurous feeling towards the Government.
