It is not often that a man is in a hurry to be relieved of money, yet a case of this kind occurred lately in one of the Northern settlements. The chairman of a certain Highway Board received the other day a heartrending epistle from the collector, imploring relief from the custody of the enormous sum that had accumulated in his hands, and describing in graphic terms the agony i of suspense he endured while absent from home, lest his " plant " in the scrub should be discovered. To ease Ms over-burdened mirid he had entrusted the " wealth" to his brother, but being haunted with doubts as to his being proof against the dangerous temptation, he used to see it every day in order to assure himself that it was safe. The amoixnt was ten pounds sterling !
