HYPOCRISY.
Tliemen of elongated countenances and elevated eye-balls at the Thames are in sack-cloth, and ashes. Satan lias been cavorting round the sheep-pens, and has stolen one of the flock, an old ram of venerable aspect who -was never known to stray into forbidden pastures. During his sojourn in the district he was a regular attendant of the fold, and an instructor of the young lambs in the Sunday School. Moreover he was a pillar of Good Teniplary. But alas! certain disclosures have been made since his departure which go to .show that he was only a wolf in sheep's clothing, and that not only did he quench his thirst at forbidden fountains, but was guilty of other naughtiness of a heinous character with the ewe lambs of the flock. Our correspondent informs us that matters are corning to light every day that cause the regenerated snufflers to raise their outstretched palms with holy horror, and to turn up the whites of their eyes in sorrow and vexation of spirit.
