ANOTHER MORMON.
Though. Mormonism does not flourish to any serious extent in New Zealand, and the elders ■who come from Salt Lake to proselytise find that the seed does not fall on very good soil, there are still a ,f ew men who practice polygamy in a modest and unostentatious fashion, and would at Utah be regarded as pillars of the Church of Latter Day Saints. In a country district within a few hours Tide of this city there resides a man who, contrary to general experience, has found the company of not only one wife insufficient,' but has mai'ried a second and third, the last two being both alive. In another place— Dairy JPlat — there is a settler who deserted his wife nineteen years ago, and emigrated with another woman to New Zealand. ' Shortly after his arrival he married this woman. The first wife has since died, and people are now wondering if he will take unto himself a third to supply the vacancy. Some men have such a wealth of affection that they cannot bring themselves to waste it all on one woman.
