OBSERVER ART UNION.
With the desire to stimulate and encourage Colonial art and industry, we have obtained from the Colonial Secretary permission to hold another Art Union. The prizes will consist of choice and valuable pictures by Auckland artists, and articles of vertu by local makers, so diversified as to suit a variety of tastes, and particularly the ladies, to whose generous approval and support the Observer is largely indebted for its success. The method of conducting the Art Union will be by coupons, as formerly, the whole number for one quarter entitling the holder to one chance in the drawing. The list of prizes and other particulars will appear in next week's issue, which will also contain the first coupon. As the entire issue of the Observer has for some months past been sold out to agents and runners early on Friday morning each week, and we do not print any extra copies beyond the issue, persons who desire to secure a chance in the Art Union are advised to purchase early in the day, or to send in their subscriptions to the manager.
