Extraordinary general meetings of shareholders in the following companies under the managership of D. G. MacDonnell, Esq., will taks place at O'Halloran's Hotel, Te Aroha, on Saturday, April 15th :— Premier Gold Mining Company (limited), New Find Gold Mining Company (limited), and Army Gold Mining (limited). Schwarzback, M.D., (lately from the Berlin and Vienna Eye Hospital), will resume practice about the beginning of June next. Dr Schwarzbach's speciality is for eye, ear, and throat diseases. The International Exhibition will open at Christchurch on Monday next, the 10th inst. For full particulars, vide advt. in this issue. Thia will be one of the best Exhibitions ever held in New Zealand, originated by Messrs Joubert and Twopenny, who have lately so successfully carried on a similar Exhibition in Western Australia. We would call attention to the ordinary general half-yearly meeting of the shareholders in the South British Fire and Marine Insurance Company, to take place on Monday next, the 10th inst. at 2 o'clock. On the same date, at 12 o' clock, will be held an extraordinary general meeting of the shareholders in the same company to discuss certain matters set forth in the advertisement in this issue. On Thursday, the 13th inst., Mr E. Arthur will sell at his rooms, in Queen-street, that splendid property known as Gladstone, situated at Northcote, divided into 28 lots to suit all purchasers. As Good Friday is a holiday, a capital opportunity presents itself to intending purcasers to visit this place, the steamer running at short intervals. It is not true that Mr William G-arrett, of the firm of Garrett Bros., Wakefield-street, is in training to emulate the celebrated fasting man, Dr Tanner. Mr Garrett is merely hunting up the pedigree of the wonderful man as he believes he is distantly related to the family. Well,a Tanner is near akin to a shoema7i:er. His researches so far have resulted in discovering that his fcinsman is mentioned in Holy Writ in' 43rd verse, chapter 9, Acts of the Apostles. He reads " and it come to pass that he tarried many days with one Simon A. Tanner." The tannery of this large firm is at the Whau, but the boot and shoe factory is in Wafcefield-street. American Waitham Watches were awarded Two Gold Medals, the only medals awarded to Exhibitors of Watches at the Melbourne International Exhibition, 1880. The only Gold Medal, also Three Special and Four First Prizes, Sydney International Exhibition, 1879. The Gold Medal Paris International Exhibition, 1878. Four First Prize Medals, Philadelphia International Exhibition, 1876. Higher awards than any other Exhibitors of Watches ever received. Buyers will observe the Trade Mark— " Waltham, Mass."— plainly engraved upon the movement of all Genuine Waltham Watches.
