NOTABILIA!

On Wednesday, April 12th, Messrs B. Tonks and Co. will sell at their mart, Queen-street, 8079 acres of land situate in Bay of Plenty, off Tauranga. This land is very fertile, and well watered by numerous lakes and small streams. On Wednesday next Mr E. Arthur will sell on, the, premises, Willow Glen, Kingsland-road (New North Road), a quantity of very superior new household furniture, an inspection of which is requested : the lot being far above what is usually sold by auction. Also, will be sold eight good inillung cows, horses, harness, dray poultry, &c. This is a splendid chance for any person wishing to buy first-class furniture at a reasonable rate. It was the other night, or rather evening— St. Patrick's evening— in the Domain, when, elated with tea and .buns, a couple sat spooning. The rays of the setting sun were falling on his intellectual face, when suddenly he withdrew his arm, and leaping into the air, exclaimed, " Hang it, Dinah, I wish you wouldn't use pins in your waist-belt!" It is all right; now. He took her to Singleton's jeweller shop, corner of Hobson and Victoria-streets, and treated her to one of the best pair of earrings lately received by that enterprising purveyor of jewellery. Messrs B. Tonks and Co. are now unpacking a, large and choice assortment of London-made furniture, which will be offered for sale without any reserve. This is one of the best shipments of furniture ever offered for sale in New Zealand, and consists of draw-ing-room and dining-room suites handsomely got itp. folding cnairs, writing- tables, cabinets, laclies* wort tables. The last-named articles are well worth a visit from the fair sex, being not only very ornamental, hut useful in a house. The sale will take place in a few days, due notice of which will appear. Amebican Waltham Watches were awarded Two Gold Medals, the only medale awarded to Exhibitors of Watches at the Melbourne International Exhibition, 1880. The only Gold Medal, also Three Special and Four First Prizes, Sydney International Exhibition, 1879. The Gold Medal Paris International Exhibition, 1878. Four First Prize •Medals, Philadelphia International Exhibition, 1876, Higher awards than any other Exhibitors of Watches ever received. Buyers will observe the Trade Mark — "Waltham, Mass."— plainly engraved upon the movement of all Genuine Walthah Watches. Trade Mark, Waltham, Mass., registered throughout the New Zealand and Australian Colonies. Proceedings will be taken against vendors selling, or offering for sale, Watches bearing colourable imitations, or infringing our rights. —American Watch Company, Waltham, Mass. ■ If there is any occasion when we might be pardoned' for breaking the tenth commandment, it is when we are exposed to the temptations in the windows , of C. W. Goodson's London Arcade, corner of Queen ! and Victoria streets. More than an ordinary effort is required to^stand fast and say, "I don't covet Mr Goodson's goods." It is much the same with those who were children once, but are such no longer ; it is the same, in fact, with those of every age. They find plenty to admire, and if they do not flatten their noses against the windows, they do not stint their admiration. One window especially is the centre of attraction—viz., the one facing Victoria-street, in which there is a magnificent display of oleographs. Pictures are a never-ending source of pleasure, and the exceedingly low prices at which these beautiful oleographs can be at the London Arcade, bring them within the reach of everyone. They are good illustrations of the ■wonderful progress and development of art pictures.
