During .King Tawhiao's visit lie purchased a quantity of story-boobs, and amongst the number he had "Jack, the Giant Killer." One evening, when reading the tale, he came to the part about the sevenleagued boots. "By the immortal -breeches of Te Whiti !" said the sable potentate, clapping his thigh, " I know who made those boots. It was Garrett Bros., of Wakefield-street, Auckland, who can turn out any number of boots in a day. I will send them an order to make me a pair of Bevon-leagued boots, for I'm sure they can do it." Anything else in the boot line, but this they cannot do, nor any other man.
