ARATAPU.

— My suggestion in a late issue of the Observer lias caused those worthies, " Dixie" and " Coddles" to invest in an equestrian outfit for the holidays. " Dixie" has raised a moke, and " Coddles" has had a suit of gear made to order for his piebald. — " Obadiali's" last dodge to find the Obskbveb correspondent is to accuse every person he meets with as the writer of certain para about him. I have also heard that he told 3ome people that hehad given the editor the sum of ten pounds to disclose the name of the correspondent. Boancia, my boy ! that yarn smells rather smokey. — The following local production illustrates the times at Aratapu : — Holy Joe, also called Ebenezer, At preaching a regular sneezer, Makes sober, by rigour, the festive gmndigger, And stops him from having his spree, sir. By paying a very smnll fee, sir You can clnun up with the great Ebenezer Join the famed Band of Hope, and with lots of soft soap You'll get on immense with the good Ebenezer. — The Elementary Singing Class held a concert in the Choral Hall last evening. A good number attended by invitatiion. The duet " Larboard Watch," was given by Messrs Morath and Morgan the latter gentleman's singing was not very good ; Mr Morath also sang " Yoxi'll Remeniber Me." During the concert a young gentleman was observed pinning the ladies' clouds to each other. Nice amusement wasn't it. Mr W. D. officiated as M. C, and distinguished himself as usual — once in a peculiar position on the floor. Pilly has given up dancing, even the polka, at which he was quite an expert. The dance was very pleasant throughout, and ended about one o'clock.
