PAEROA TECHNICAL SCHOOL
A conference took place yesterday! at Paieroa between representatives of the. local bodies and Messrs. A. ' Burns 1, member, and Kalaugher, i supervisor of Technical Education;! for the Auckland Education Board. ' The meeting was oalled for 2.30 p.m., but owing "to tyre puncture, < the meeting took place ait 3 p.m. j i {Mr. Taylor, chairman of the : ! School Committee, was in the chaiv. I The chairmia.Q explained, the business of the conference, and called upon the visitors toi - explain the position- Mr. Burns said^ that Mr. • , Kalaugher and himself had been appointed by the Education Board to raieet the Paeroa people to go into the questiom of the establishment of a jti&chnii'CtaT schootl for Paeroa, .and he pleaded with them to consider the outlying schools when, choosing the site so that 'the school would-" be near the railway s'tationi. j !. Mr. Kalaugher explad-ned the ' formalities required before a school ; couldi be established, .and suggested ; that the Mja-cika.ytow.ni school- | building could be shifted to Paeroa ! and 'used 'as a technical school. The * question of a Technical High School ; sor Paeroa was also debated, iseveral speaker® .pointing 1 out the hardship of sending- pupils to the Thames High School. . '....- Messrs. Porritt, Keeley7 Dobson, Cae-srels and other speakers were heard. Ultimately it was_ decided 'to have another meeting of Paeroa. representatives tio coffiisidea" site, : etc., and forward the result to Ihe Education Board. !■ Many other questions on. educational matters were asked a,nd replied to. The vmeeting closed with a vote of thamiks to, Messrs. Burns and Kalaugher.
