, Inspector Franklin's report to the . last Hospital Board meeting showed that during 'the month at Thames there had teen sife cases of diphtheria aaid one of typhoid fever, all oif which had been . investigated, the houses disinfected, ' and the patients* removed to the Hospital. y For the whole district there had ~ (been tiire© •cases E>f scarlet fever, i \22i of diphtheiria,, one of fyp'hoid, a and one of meningitis. The sanitary inspection for Thames showed 1 that one butcher shop, two milk shops, two dairies, r one fish &hop> three frait shops, one ■restaurant, five groceries, two bake ■' houses, ome laundry, six dwelling 1-, one school',- on© offensive trade, and * one septic tank had been inspe.i^4il. ' Five sainpieisi of bread had :beeiii! ' tested; The two samples' at :Llu. ncs showed good weight,. and were wc-11 '[ upl to .the standard. The ii.ree 11 samples taken ait Te A.roha were alt ! up to. the standard, but two were found to be underweight, and warnings .were issued. ■■■ With a view to the extermiiria- ' tion of rats, the inspector had visited five grocery businesses in the district, and had 'givem advice.
