Wheui a constable was endeavouring to arrest a returned Maori soldier, who was refused admission to a hotel, the Maori forcibly resisted,, acid a lairge crowd, •which inckKled; a number of other natives, quickly assembled, and hampered the congitaible. The prisoner was eivexiitually placed in, the lock-up, and later on two other Maoris were lodged im the cells, charged with .obstructing the police. .
