WANGANUI DISTURBANCE
Police and Hostile Crowd (Flea* Association.) ' WANGAN'UI, Wednesday. One of the most disgraceful incidents ia Wanganui for a considerable time . past occurredl . in Hie Avenue late yesterday afternoon. Wheui a constable was endeavouring to arrest a returned Maori soldier, who was refused admission to a hotel, the Maori forcibly resisted,, acid a lairge crowd, •which inckKled; a number of other natives, quickly assembled, and hampered the congitaible. The prisoner was eivexiitually placed in, the lock-up, and later on two other Maoris were lodged im the cells, charged with .obstructing the police. .
