In the House of Commons Mr Asquith' referring! to complaints by the Liberals regarding the appointment of a. preponderance of Unionist magistrates in certain localities, stated that Lord Lorebum had written declaring that the appointmients belolnged! exclusively to his office, and alddedi that so long 1 as hei was Chancellor* he would' adhere 1 to the views expressed before the Royal Commission. Mr Asquith considered that until the country had a .better 1 opportunity of judging 1 the working of the advisory committees it would be promature to give a d!ay to diacmsa the question.
