[By "Bully Off."]
Hockey players are beginning' to get"their gear together for the doming sea&on, and many of them may be seen in the elarly morning' practising;. The season promises to be a mosrti successful one, although indications point to only two senior teams competing in the Grease 1 Cup competitions. The Thames) and Clriaketers/ Olulb will eacli pub striong' tea ma in the field. The Kauaeranga; Old "Boys' 7 membership has dropped to below playing 1 point, and new 'blood is apparently not forthcoming.
Three junior teams are assured, namely, United, V.M.A., and High School, so that this velar's Lapraik Shield! games should bia as interesting as ever.
The annual meetingl of the A;v~ciatiora was held on Thursday evening, and among; many other tilings thio matter of forming 1 ladies' teams was discussed. Regret was expressed that the former clubs had fallen through, iind! those preseniti were unanimous in the opinion that a eiombined effort should) be made to "'at the ladies interested in the game. After some discussion it was proposed that the ministers of the various churches be atmroacihed and asked to assist with the formation: of elites among the young ladies attending the various Bible classes and -Sunday Schools. So far the open club system has faikd dismally at the Thames, and iti i\\fcs thought that clubs formed! among, young ladies we;ll acquaints I with - each other would prove more satisfactory to all conoe'med. The proposal was favorably recieiviedi, undi the secretary was instructed to meEe- niqttiricsi regarding the number of players, available.
1+ Was alsoi decided n..t the meeting to open the season next Saturday with al senior match.
