Voting proceeded steadily and quietly throng]unit the day. A large army of canvassers were at work on tooth sidm Motor cars and other vehicles were freely pressed into serivce. The women turned! out more freely than was expected. The voting ceased at 7, and, before that hour crowds began to gather in the vicinity of the news--^japer officteis, wlieite the returns were posted. Later the streets in the viciinity were denseily packed, ctxeitement runningl high as the numlWars for and agiainst were n;iountedl.
