MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
A CURIOUS POSITION. O'VEIRCROiWDED BOOTHS. POLLING CONTINUED TO-DAY. CHRiISTGHIUIGH:, April 27. A curious position which arose at New Brighton last nig'hit in connection with the municipal polling lias been the subject of mucih comment this morningl. There was only one b'j'O'th in the boi'ough and when closing time 1 came ai large crowd of belated voters -verta clamouring 1 for admission. Some fifty persons were in the booth at 7 o'clodk, 'tout in view of the crowd! the returningl officer do--citled it was impossible to record their rotes and after consulting- the Act announced that the poll would be postponed till to-day. The ibooth was therefore locked up for the night and the polling is 'being 1 .continued today. At several of the largje city booths, pp.rtieiularly in Sydenham where the polling! was very lielavy in the evening", a large numbsr of voters were in danglerl of foeing crowded out. Tlie late voters appreciated the position and giove the official every .assistance so that the , work could proWaeid smoothly. In one booth 120 persons recorded their votes after 7 o'clodk, the last pa.per .being 1 handed in shortly before fight.
