The Elections.
The local elections will bo held next Wednesday, and I sincetelv hope that the extension of :he franchise will lead to increased intorest oa the part of the burgeß.se3. I regret to hear that quite a number of young people omitted to have their names pi ced on the roll, though the operation was a decidedly simple one-. However thera are nine members to bo elected, and there are eleven candidate*. It is to be hoped that voters will exorcise their privileges, a,ai that plumping will not be indulged in. I havo heard several say that they intend to vote for three, f..ur or five cindidatos out of the eleven, but thia I suggest, is a practice that may bo calculated to bring about unexpected and perhaps due re3ults, There are nine members to be elected and a burgess has nine votes to exercise lie is dodging portion of his public responsibilities if he exercises but half of his privilege.
