CHRISTMAS SCHOOL DISMISSALS.

To-day was generally observed as the breaking up day of the various schools on the Thames, and was consequently quite a gala day' amongst' the children, who eagerly look forward to the conventional Christmas holidays. The dispersals at the several schools were attended with sojne ceremony, a short programme of songs, recitations, an/3 the usual congratulatoiy speeches being gone through in each case. Paiawai SchoolThe distribution of prizes at this school took place at half-past § o'clock this afternoon, there being a large number of parents and friends present, who congratulated Mr Schofield (headmaster) upon the state of proficiency attained by the pupils.
