OUR MINES.
CAMBRIA. ' There is but little change to report in the mine otherwise than mentioned in the manager's report, published by us in our last issue. The reef in the bottom of the winze being sunk below No. 3 level, which has now attained a depth of fully 60ft, is from 5 to 6ft in thickness, and colors of gold are occasionally seen when breaking down the vein on the hangingwall, which also carries some favorable mineral in places. The intermediate drive from the western side of the winze is now being extended at right angles from the winze, for the purpose of cutting the crossreef on the western side of the break, and ascertaining whether the run of gold carries downwards. The country in the face is a kindly class of sandstone, favorable for gold. Stoping operations are in progress on the crossreef as usual, and a large supply of good crushing dirt is coming to hand from here. The stopes on the Darwin reef east.of the winze pre* sent no change worthy of mention.HThe sixth stope has been carried along about 23ft from the wiDze, and colors of gold are frequently seen when breaking down the quartz, which also carries excellent minerals. The reef here has not yet been all taken out to the underhand stope, there beiDg a small block varying from 1 to 4ft in height to stope out ere this block is exhausted, but which it is found necessary to leave in for the present, until the former stopes have been filled up. At the intermediate level, a second stope has been commenced eastward on the reef; good colors of gold are seen when breaking down the reef, while there is some nice i mineral visible in the face. The crosscut at No. 4 level is making rather slow headway, the country in the face of tb,e drive being very hard. Work is, pvooeeding in the other parts of the mine as usual, but there is no change to report. Crushing is shaping for a good return. TRENTON, The contractors for sinking the first section of 150 ft of this company's shaft commenced work this morning. GOLD RETURNS. Kubantji Hill.—Newman and party, tributers in this mine, have finished a crushing for 30ozs gold.
