PORT CHALMERS.

Last night. Arrived: ship Westland, Capt. McWilliams, 94 days from London ; brings 22 passengers, 1900 tons cargo, and 9C3 packages gunpowder. The passengers presented Capt. McWilliams with a rery flattering testimonial. He reports that on September 10th at 8 pm. the Soilly Island bore N.W., distant 30 miles, the barometer shewing 29 6, and steadily rising wind and sea, and at 830 p.m. it chopped into N.N.W,-, blowing a furious hurricane, and carrying away her upper niaintopsail, fore-topmast staysails, lower mizen tppsail, and split the foresail to ribbons. She was compelled to heave to on the starboard tack under the two lower topsails, the sea breaking on board and completely flooding her decks. The gale moderated at 4 a.m. next day.
