OUR MINES.
MOANATAIEI.
The manager reports for the past week as follows ;—" Redan crosscut, 80ft level: We have intersected another wellmineralised leader 12in in width. An assay test gave 13dwta of gold and 6dwts 4grs of silver per ton. This result, though small, proves the leader to be gold-bear-ing, and that payable gold might be struck any moment. The crosscut is suspended for the present, as I wish to prove more fully the most likely-looking leaders intersected at this level by driving on their course. We have commenced to drive eastward ; the different leaders re* ferred to should junction in this direction shortly. Heldt's section : The winze we aye sinking is 17ft below the tunnel level; the leader is of a most promising oh&raei ter, in which colors of gold and the same class of minerals are found as Williams and party met with before coming on their patch. Point Russell stopes : Have been stripping the lode during the week;. X pricked into the lode 6a Thursday last, and found that the «<uart3 looked well. An assay test returned 2ozs 18dwts 9grs gold and 20z3 2dwts llgrs of silver per ton. Good headway is being made w;th the repairs in the tunnel, and about 8 days with the present staff' should reach -the big lode in Point Bussell section.—J. G. BLANCHE. . The Wade resf has opened out to about a foot in thiokness in the drive, and in breaking down yesterday colors of gold were seen in the quarts, which also contains favorable minerals, while the country is a kindly class of sandstone. QUEEN OP BEAUTY. The crosscut in progress at No. 5 level intersected the reef this morning, but as only a small portion has yet been broken down, it is impossible to determine its value. The reef is from 12 to 18 inches in thickness, and carries excellent mine rals, the country being of a very favorable description for gold.
