The No. 2 winze on the Stir of the South reef hag now been sunk a total depth of 40ft, and the junction with the Success reef should be met with in another 6 or Bft, which should have the effeot of causing an improvement in ike lode. The reef in the bottom is about a foot in thickness, and shows good colors of gold occasionally when broken dowa. The crosscut to intersect the Suocess reef is penetrating a rather tight class of sandstone, but the lode should be to hand in about 80ft. The reef in the tribnters' drive shows some improvement, and the influence of the break has now disappeared, the reef being a nice compact body of quartz some 12 or 18 inches in thickness.
