Thames Hospital.

The final meeting of the Hospital Com mittee, whose duties Will henceforth be carried out by the new District Board, was held in the Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. Present—Messrs Wildman (President), Benshaw, Badford, West, Beid, Mulligan, Brodie, Greenville, Bruce, Stone, McGowan, Clark, Hall, and Townsend, Revs. E. Best, P. O'Beilly, S. J. Neill.—After reading and confirmation of the minutes, the report of the House Committee was read, adopted, and accounts passed for payment.-—Dr Payne, House Surgeon, reported that on the Ist September there were 25 p&tients in the Hospital, and that during the month 8 had been admitted, 2 died, 15 discharged, and 16 remained on 30th nit, During September 55 oat-patients had been treated. —A letter was read from the Colonial Secretary forwarding copies of correspondence from the Auckland Hospital Committee complaining of patients having been forwarded to them from the Thames Hospital. This was denied by Dr Payne, who said that any that may bare gone there had done so voluntarily and without acquainting him. A copy of Dr Payne's reply was ordered to be sent to th<? Colonial Seqreta/y.—ln accordance with the request of the Colonial Secretary, the Committee consented to continue their duties as heretofore until the new Board would be ready to take over the control of the Hospital.—-The financial statement read showed a balance to the credit of the banking account of $165 lls 5d on the Ist April, and subsequent receipts amounting to £52 12s 9d, making a total of £218 4s 2d ; of thjs bad been expended on surgU pal appliances, bedding, &c, £165 lls gd, and on insurance, $c, £2 l§s, leaving a balance of £49 \7s pd.-^The following were appointed Houso Committee for the ensuing month .—-Beys. F. G-. Jfvans, S. J. Neill, and P_. O'Bielly, and Mr J. B. Stone.—rComplimentary resolutions wore then passed unanimously, p] a ping on record the high sense entertained hy the Board of \\\b professional ability displayed by Dr Payne in his position as House Surgeon, Dr Callan as honorary Surgeon, and MrChaloner as Dispenser and House Stewart, referring with reference to the latter gentleman to the high praise be stowed ob him by DrGrabMm, Inspector of Hospital's.
