A letter written by the Hod. W. Griffiths, Premier of Queensland, to Governor Sir Anthony Musgrove, on the subjeot of the proposed separation of Northern Queensland, is published in the Times of this morning, and in referring to it that journal says it proves the difficulties to be such that the Crown could not at the present time face them by granting separation. Constantinople, October 12.

It is announced that Sir Henry Drummond Wolff, Envoy Extraordinary to the Sublime Forte, has come to an arrangement with the Grand Vizier on the Egyptian question. The basis of the agreement is, firstly, that a Turkish Commission shall accompany Sir H. D. Wolff to Egypt to assist in the task of reorganisation ; and secondly, that the English evacuate Egypt whenever such a step becomes oossible.

London, October 11. The crisis in Turkey is causing acute excitement, resultant upon the Powers being so divided in opinion regarding the settlement of the Eoumelian difficulty. Intelligence received from the continent in regard to the cholera epidemic states that the disease is decreasing in the vicinity of Palermo, and that in Spain it is dwindling in intensity, though somewhat fitfully. October 12. The Great Powers generally oppose the claim put forth by Greece aud Servia for an extension of territory. The Eoumelian situation is causing con* siderable excitement at Constantinople, and the war party are exercising a dominance in the Turkish Ministry.
