Last night. An inquiry was held to-day as to the cause of the fire wbiph destroyed a house opcupied by $. C. Cjirry, on the 30th September, Tjie verdict returned wap " the house had been maliciously set on {ire, but by whom there was not sufficient evidence to show."
This day. At the E.M. Court this morning, on the case against Muir being called on, Inspector Brown said—"l am instructed to state that there was a complete misapprehension eg to the facts, in this case, and that it bag
been found that tlif-re are no grounds whatsoever for the accusation made." Mr Muir was therefore discharged without being culled upon. Arrived : Wakatipu, from Sydney.
