OUR MINES.

CAMBRIA.

The hangingwall of the reef was again broken down this morning, when colon of gold were seen freely. The quartz maintains its usual promising character, and carries excellent minerals.' . CALEDONIAN. During the past week 15 head of stamps hare been engaged one shift at the Herald battery reducing quartz from this mine! but the manager commenced with 10 head this morning, which he intends to keep going continuously (three shifts) till the end of the month. The manager reports for the past week as follows:—" The con* tractors at No. 3 level driving on the Bed Queen leader bare had tighter ground, bat have driven 24ft. during the past fbrt<. night. The leader is about the same size, and when broken down yesterday a few colors of gold were seen. An antimony vein crossed the leader oft; back from the face, and since then the leader abounds with antimony. This is generally a good indication for frold. The four stopes eait of winze are turning out good crushing Btuff, and occasionally produce a few picked stone. The four stopes west of the winze have made no noteworthy change since my last. The reef in the winze below No. 2 level is still very large— fully Bft. in thickness—and very hard to break. It still carries all the good minerals, but no gold has been seen this week. I have been crushing with 15 head one shift this week, and the dirt is shaping very well.—T. B. Hicks.'V '.'■-* NORTH STAR. The trial crushing of one load of quartz from the rise at the low level produced 2oza lOdwts retorted gold, and one load from the reef in the drive at the low level yielded 15dwts gold. • r ;Ot; , REUBEN PARR.
