Arrived $ The s.s. Tonp;ariro, at 10.15 p.nj. yesterday. The passage occupied 45 days ; actual steaming tune, ii days i boars 3 minutes. Left Plymouth at 253 on August Ist, with 382 passengers and 251 bags of mails { arrived at Teneriffe at 2 am. on the 6th, and left at 11.40 am. the same day. At 6.30 p.m. on the 7th discovered that the main shaft INTo. -1 bearing was badly broken; stopped the engines, and set canvas; after a delay of ten hours, one of Thomson's patent coupling was fitted, and it was again put under steam at f speed and gradually increased to full speed—the couplings working admirably. Capetown at 440 a.m. on August 22, and took on board 5 bags of mails, and 3 passengers, leaving again at 5 25 p.m. ou the 3rd. Had fresh winds to moderate westerlies, and passed Cape Lewin at 4 a.m. on" the Bth inst.; the Snares at 5 a.m. on the 15th ; the Nuguetts at G. 27 p.m., and anchored at the Heads at 10.45 p.m. The Tongariro brings 654 tons of cargo for Dunedin ; 458 for Lyttleton ; 778 for Wellington; and 657 for Auckland. There were no births nor deaths of the passengers. 150 are nominated immigrants principally for northern ports. She crossed the bar at (3.30 a.m. drawing 21ft 6io. aft, and 18ft. 6in. forward, threequarter flood.
