Thk members of the two Wesley an Churches aasorabled last evening in Ibe Grahamstown church, when the proposals of (be Trustees were kid before the meeting) respecting the removal of that building and its re-erectiou on the central site in Pollen St., with needed alterations. On reference to the Hansard containing a report of tbe speeches made on the lit September re the removal of Wardens through* out the colony, our member, Mr W. Fraser, is reported to have said:—" That with regard to tbe Warden at the Thames, he (Colonel Fraser) took action when he was first appointed a member of the (Joldfields Committee from the fertility of resource that Warden displayed in obstructing the work of local bodies there, and it was he who mored with regard to the removal of Wardens from one part of the colony to another, and more par* ticularly with regard to tbe removal of the Theme- Warden. He felt difsalisfied that that Warden should ho left and that others were removed ngaintt whom so complaints bad been made. He hoped the matter would not rest in its present position, and that exceptions wonld not be • made in the cats of some individuals who are more favored than others. They should all be treated alike. All the Wardens should have been left as they were, or they should all have been moved in conformity with the resolution of the Goldfields Committee," It will tbm be seen that the substance of the speech might, in being condensed by a newspaper correspondent, be through carelessness or hurry sent so as to convey the meaning that local bodies had made complaints, but a perusal of the speech will show that whatever complaints have bean made, Mr Fraser, judging by the report, takes tbe responsibility of them. Notwithstanding the insinuations contained in a local of our contemporary yesterday, and the assertions of certain designing persons at street corners, a careful reading of tbe speech cannot but convince an unprejudiced observer that no alteration bai been made in it between delivery and publication.

We enquired at the Hospital to-day as to the condition of the unfortunate woman, Mrs Scanlan, who was burnt at Tararu on Sunday last, but,we were respectfully informed that the Surgeon had issued instructions to the effect that we were to receive no information from the officials; that anything required by us should be supplied only by Dr Payne himself. As the Surgeon is not resident on the premises, and as our time can possibly be put to better advantage than in running after the paid servant of any public institution, we regret our inability to furnish our readers with any positively- authentic information regarding not only this case, but as to whether any others were received into the Hospital to-day.
